Project Coordinator

Qualifications:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing projects from the administrative and business development perspective. This individual will work closely with Project Managers and Construction Superintendents throughout the construction process to deliver the project successfully.

VC Management Inc. typically has 5 projects under construction at any given time, and we build a variety of projects including multi-family residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, civic, Step, Passive House, and green buildings – LEED® certified. Being a part of VC Management Inc. means working on a variety of interesting projects, working with a supportive team, and being proud to say “we built that”.


Project Coordinator Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in construction

  • Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Adobe Acrobat Software

  • Intermediate knowledge of means and methods and construction sequences

  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize own work, and delegate tasks

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong team player, self-motivated and proactive thinker

  • Passionate about learning and career growth

Roles & Responsibilities
 

Documentation, Reporting and Risk Management
 

  • Review documents and drawings in detail and inform the appropriate team about potential issues of conflicts.

  • Review, draft and enforce sub-contractor contracts and identify discrepancies in scopes of work.

  • Review drawings to assist with identifying issues prior to the works being started.

  • Write, review, and submit RFI’s to the RFI manager and provide solutions to the problem in the request.

  • Review and manage Submittals log.

  • Review and coordinate Shop Drawings.

  • Review and issue Site Instructions, sketches, RFI responses, etc.

  • Assist in the management of meetings, workshops and ensures effective record keeping.

 

Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare tender packages, quantify scopes of work and evaluate bids.

  • Prepare and manage Change Orders.

 

Scheduling

  • Review and update construction schedules, and identify potential scheduling problems, and advise the Project Manager of any deviations or potential deviations from the overall schedule or critical path.

  • Track and manage long-lead items for on-time procurement and delivery.

  • Coordinate site visits, trades and client meetings.

Health & Safety

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for all personnel when on-site and off-site.
     

Relationships & Leadership

  • Lead project meetings with internal and external parties.

  • Maintain VC Management Inc.'s professional image through respectful means of communication.

  • Dress in a professional manner to keep VC Management Inc’s professional image. This includes wearing the VCM supplied PPE and apparel and to ensure they are kept in good condition or replaced.

  • Liaise with the project team, clients, consultants and sub-contractors.

Quality

  • Adhere to VC Management Inc.'s quality standards.

  • Assist with deficiencies inspections and occupancy process.
