Qualifications:

The Interior Designer’s primary responsibility is to produce Interior Design plans, details and finishes schedules for commercial, tenant improvement and/or residential projects. This role involves creativity, collaboration and problem-solving in order to arrive at the most suitable design solutions.

VC Management Inc. typically has 5 projects under construction at any given time, and we build a variety of projects including multi-family residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, civic, Step, Passive House, and green buildings – LEED® certified. Being a part of VC Management Inc. means working on a variety of interesting projects, working with a supportive team, and being proud to say “we built that”.


Interior Designer Qualifications:

  • Interior Design degree or diploma.

  • Design experience in commercial, tenant improvement and residential sectors.

  • Demonstrate strong constructibility design practicality.

  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel and Words.

  • Must have problem-solving skills.

  • Must show close attention to details.

  • Must be a proactive planner.

  • Must be proficient with technology.

Roles & Responsibilities
 

Documentation
 

  • Review existing documents and drawings in detail and inform the Project Manager about potential issues of conflicts and provide design solutions.

  • Review owner's requirements and regulations related to the project.

  • Create required mood boards for approval.

  • Compose accurate specifications and schedules of materials based on budget constraints.

  • Produce Interior Design drawings, details and finishes schedule ensuring the designs are compatible with site and client and client requirements.

  • Issue Interior Design Site Instructions, sketches, RFI responses, etc.

 

Budget & Cost Control

  • Review and validate project plans and finishes for cost feasibility.

  • Take an active role in selecting the most cost-effective material, while maintaining design integrity and desired quality.

 

Scheduling

  • Analyze material lead time and inform the project team of any long-lead products.

Relationships & Leadership

  • Lead project meetings with internal and external parties.

  • Maintain VC Management Inc.'s professional image through respectful means of communication.

  • Dress in a professional manner to keep VC Management Inc’s professional image. This includes wearing the VCM supplied PPE and apparel and to ensure they are kept in good condition or replaced.

  • Liaise with the project team, clients, consultants and sub-contractors.

Quality

  • Adhere to VC Management Inc.'s quality standards.

  • Assist with deficiencies inspections and occupancy process.
